Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops relieves the redness of the eye caused by minor eye irritations.
Dusty smoky atmospheres, eye strain and chlorine in swimming pools can make the eyes red and bloodshot. When the eyes are red it is usually because more blood than normal is flowing through the small blood vessels of the eye.
Optrex Bloodshot Eye Drops are medicated to relieve red, bloodshot eyes fast. Its cooling formulation soothes the irritation and calms the redness of bloodshot eyes, restoring normal blood flow.
What is Bloodshot a eye?
Lots of things can make your eyes look red and bloodshot, from lack of sleep to smoky environments and swimming in a chlorinated swimming pool. The bloodshot appearance is caused by the widening or dilation of the small blood vessels in the white part of the eye, making them look more prominent.
What are the main causes?
- Pollution - exhaust fumes, smoke, dust and chemicals can all irritate the eyes making them red and bloodshot
- Swimming - The chlorine used in swimming pools can be particularly irritating to your eyes
- Staring at a computer screen for long periods can cause eye strain which in turn can lead to a bloodshot appearance.
- Lack of sleep - When we are tired our eyes can look bloodshot, particularly problematic the morning after a late night!
What are the symptoms?
Your eyes will look red and the small blood vessels in the white part of your eye will be more obvious than usual. Your eyes are also likely to feel irritated & gritty and may also be slightly watery but there should be no pain. Most often both eyes will be affected.
Top Tips:
- Try and get plenty of sleep by avoiding repeated late nights
- When driving long distances take a break at least every 2 hours
- Wear goggles when swimming to stop chlorine irritating the eyes.

The product is great for both my wife and I. We both wear contact lenses, and swim a lot. The solution removes the red (from the chlorine in the pool) and after a while we can put our contact lenses in again.. We are very dependant on it, perhaps too much so, but what is the alternative? BTW we are both 66, and trying to stay reasonably fit. ..
