Cica-Care Silicone Gel Sheet is a patented technically advanced form of silicone gel sheet for scar care. It is durable, comfortable and re-usable, ideal for day and night use. It is also safe to use on children and adults making it suitable for the whole family. Cica-Care can even be used on scars up to 20 years old. Cica-Care is intended for use as follows:

• For the management of hypertrophic and keloid scars.
• May prevent the formation of hypertrophic and keloid scars.
• For use only on intact skin.
• For covering hypertrophic and Keloid scars as a means of reducing the size and erythema of scars resulting from burns, trauma and surgery.

A scar is part of the normal healing process of a wound to the skin. There are different types of scars that form, each dependent on the type of injury that caused it. For many superficial injuries like minor cuts and grazes, the scar will gradually fade. However, after some kinds of surgery or more serious accidents such as deep cuts or burns, the scars that form can leave the skin red, dark or raised.

These types of scars can be emotionally distressing and can cause great discomfort by restricting movement or from itching. It is these scars that Cica-Care has been widely used to reduce by dermatologists, surgeons and medical professionals.

How is Cica-Care used and how long will it take for the scar to get better?

It can vary from person to person and from scar to scar. Some people may see an improvement in a matter of days. When used correctly, best results are seen after 2-4 months treatment time. For the first two days of treatment Cica-Care should be used for 4 hours per day. For the next two days, Cica-care can be increased to 8 hours per day. After this, wear time should be increased by 2 hours per day until a minimum of 12 hours per day is reached. If possible, Cica-Care should be worn 24 hours per day. This build up is necessary to get the skin accustomed to the gel sheet.

Each separate cut piece used should be cleansed twice daily and will last up to one month in use. Easy painless to remove and replace, the adhesive sheet stays in place, although a light bandage or tape may give extra help to hold it in place. Cica-Care Silicone Gel Sheet 12cm x 6cm -

Step 1

• Wash hands before and after use.
• Gently clean the scar and surrounding skin with a mild soap and rinse in clean warm water. Thoroughly dry the scar and surrounding skin.
• Remove gel sheet from tray.
  

Step 2

• Cut gel sheet, to fit scar size, with a small overlap over the surrounding skin.
• Remove printed plastic sheet.

Step 3

• Apply gel sheet, adhesive side to the scar, without stretching.  If necessary a light bandage can be used to keep Cica-Care in place.
• For first two days use Cica-Care for 4 hours per day.
• For next two days use Cica-Care for 8 hours per day.
• Continue to increase wear time by 2 hours per day until a minimum of 12 hours per day is reached.  If possible Cica-Care should be worn 24 hours per day.

Step 4

• Wash Cica-Care the scar and surrounding skin, at least once a day with mild soap and rinse in clean warm water.
• Dry with a cloth towel.

Step 5

• When Cica-Care begins to wear or cleaning is difficult, it should be replaced. This usually occurs after 14-28 day intervals. When used correctly the best results are seen after 2-4 months.

Caution before using the Cica-Care Silicone Gel Sheet:

• Cica-Care is contra-indicated for patients with complicating medical factors which would make them unable to use the dressing properly and in patients with dermatological conditions which disrupt the integrity of the skin in areas of coverage.
• Do not use on open or infected wounds. 
• Do not use on skin currently affected by acne.
• Follow instructions for use carefully.
• Do not use unless skin surrounding the scar or closed wound is normal.
• Do not use with ointments or creams under the gel sheet.
• In some patients a rash has been observed on the scar and surrounding skin. Should a rash occur, reduce Cica-Care therapy time to 12 hours on, 12 hours off. If the rash persists discontinue use and consult your physician or medical advisor.
• On surgical incisions, use Cica-Care only after sutures have been removed.

For orders that weigh 25kg or more (and for every subsequent 25kgs) there is an additional handling charge of £3.49 per 25kg. All other delivery conditions apply as above.
