Having recently been struck down with flu (insert sympathy here) I felt i needed to take something to alleviate the symptons, although my dad insists that its better ti let it take its course, i was feeling too rubbish to do anything at all so i needed to take something - anything! to make it abit better.Im all too aware that antibiotics can be bad for you if you take them too much and being an asthmatic, my fluey symptoms turned into a chest infection. So i dragged myself to boots after taking 2 packets of beechams cold and flue capsules (in vain). I was all prepared so subject myself to the horror that is liquid expectorant when i spied beechams all in one tablets, promising to break down my phelgm (niiiice) and relieve my chest cough. AND they were on special offer, half price in boots, woo hoo! I didnt need any more convincing, so i snapped up a box of 16 and i think they cost me arounf £2.30 half price, apologies but i cant remember exactly, i was rather delerious at the time.So its 3 days later and ive used 8 of the 16 tablets, im still cloughing and im still phlegmy (again, niiiice) but the feelings of illness are mostly confined to the morning. By lunchtime i feel much better apart from the odd coughing fit, i dont really feel that the tablets have done much for me and im glad i didnt give in and go to the doctors and get a bottle of antibiotics because i feel like im getting better, perhaps a bit slower than i might have done with some proper drugs, but now im over the worst i think i can cope with a cough.Im going to stick the tablets out and finish the last 8 and hopefully they'll start to have an effect. You take 2 tablets every 4 hours but ive not been getting out of bed til around 11 or 12 so ive missed out on a couple of doses and maybe thats why i dont feel like theyve had an effect. The tablets are large and white with a little B on them, I cant think of anything to compare the size of them to, but theyre capsule shaped and are larger than your average paracetamol capsules. They say non drowsy on the box and i havent had any feelings of drowsiness whilst taking them, and i also take antihistamines because im allergic to the cats. You cant take All In One tablets with paracetamol or any other cold and flu decongestant type tablets. The box claims that the tablets deal with headaches, blockes noses, sore throats and chesty coughs. I havent noticed a significant difference in how blocked my nose feels and by the time i started taking the tablets my sore throat had gone anyway, i havent had a headache in thetime ive been using the tablets either. There is, as always, an insert inside the box detailing the ingredients of the tablets and dosage advice. You are advised not to give the tablets to children under the age of 12. And for adult, do not take more than 8 tablets in any one 24 hour period.Allergy advice - the tablets contain paracetamol, guaiphenesin and phenylephrine, so if you know that youre allergic to any of these, steer clear!I hope this has been of use, and thanks for reading! ..
